First University Council

The new body – university council – was introduced to Polish higher education system by the new act on higer education.

The term of office of the university council shall be four years and shall start on 1st January of the year following the year, in which the term of office of the senate started. According to the new rules, the term of office of the first university council will last until the end of 2020. The council may be composed of six or eight members and apart from the elected members, a place for the president of the student union, will be guaranteed. At least 50% of the members of the University Council should come from outside the insttitution.

The first Univeristy Council of the University of Warsaw consists of four researchers who represent different areas of science including exact and natural sciences, humanities, and social sciences as well as two persons who bring business experience.
